What do you think of this DB layout for my site?

Hey all,
I'm starting up a new Dragon Ball site. I've made dozens (no joke) of designs for it, but this is the only one I like so far. Nothing too fancy, just a decent, unique, and functional layout. The name and other such will still need to be changed, but the design is almost finished.

What I wanted to know was what you guys think of it, and what could be improved without a complete overhaul. Honest, constructive criticism, please.

The entire bg will be the purple you see at the edges of the layout; no white.

First of all, I'm moving this to the "Your art" forum, that's the place to give feedback and suggestions on other's works.

Hmm is it supposed to be real size? if it's real size, you may want to make it a little wider. Of course you may have done it in purpose, but some more space for content would be nice.

The colors for the layout are original and text is readable, but maybe the header doesn't really go with them, you could colorize the image a bit or something, just a suggestion.

It's a good work overall, it's clean and the navigation is clear, which are two good things.

Thanks for your opinion, it helps.  It is real size. The content area is supposed to be that small.

I changed the header to make it fit in with its surroundings more. Much as I like the vivid colors of the header, I'm not sure if it really works well.

The layout is bold and simple. I'm not much of a fan for ones that bold, but the design in itself looks great. On the header image, maybe try to blend in the teal brushes a bit. They looks lsightly obstrusive and if you made them a little transparent it might help a bit =)
