Using LiveTrace and Type on a Path tools in Illustrator
« on: March 25, 2008, 05:32:38 PM »

Hi all,

I believe this is my first post. I've been visiting this website for quite some time but never posted anything, so here I am!

I'm doing a design project for my typography class, and need some help. We have to create a self-portrait using type only. We're allowed to use a reference image and work from there.

What I've done is live traced the image I would like to use in Illustrator CS3, expanded it so it is converted to paths, but now I'm at a loss as to how I can use the type on a path tool properly. It seems as though the anchor points aren't connected, since when I type on them, it usually doesn't let me type anything and the overfill plus icon appears. I'd like to be able to use the text on a path tool to "fill" certain areas with type in the image.

Does that make sense? I hope someone knows what I'm talking about! Smiley

Nevermind, decided it was easier to draw my own paths. LiveTrace creates waaay too complex of paths. Shocked
