Some Help With the Div Layer Tutorial Part 2

Okay, so I'm up to the last few steps of the second part of the tutorial. The one thing I do not really understand is where it says:

5. We need the boxes to expand with the text and content of your page, so we need to put a background image. With Photoshop, right click on the Rectangular marquee tool and select single row marquee tool. Click on the bottom of the layout psd. Go to Image > Crop and File > Save for web. Save it as a 60 quality JPG and name it background.jpg (save it on the images folder of the layout). Do not save the PSD now eh?

I got the single row marquee tool selected, and I clicked on the bottom of the layout.psd. The I go to Image>Crop and File>Save for web, but after that, I can't save it as a JPG, I can only save it as a GIF. Can someone please help me figure this out?

You don't have to go to save for web. I never do that. You can just go to File>> Save As and save it as a .jpg from there.

Remove the line at the bottom of your actual layout. Do that and it's good.
