Does most web designers just download free photoshop 7.0 or something? i mean its like 600$ and on some sites the webmasters say they could hardly afford to pay for their site but they claim to use 3d studio max a 3000$ program and photoshop a 600$? it sounds funny, but any professionals know anything about this? and if getting free programs such as those are possible how do i get them?

Thx

Well, I think people get them free on the net ...

I, for one, downloaded the starter version on www.telecharger.com and then I downloaded a serial number on EMule that got me into it. Same for Dreamweaver.

I don't know anyone who has bought them, yet all my friends have it ...

Before I got PSP 7.0, I had the 6.0 Version, that a friend of mine had sent to me. Her "computer teacher" [I don't really know the phrase to use there] had given her a free copy of it on a CD !

Well, some people would download a free 30 day trial version or something like that. You can download a free trial of Adobe Photoshop on http://adobe.com/.

My brother received Photoshop CS on a CD. I think someone gave him a copy. Anyways, I don't really know about it.

All I know is that I can't afford a 3D Studio Max nor would I ever buy the software.

Yes, that's actually how I got it, someone gave it to me in a CD Smiley

There are also Educational Versions that are free out there.. some teachers and such have them.

All actuall professionals do purchase the software, as if they were discovered using illegal copies they would be sued into nothing by the companies owning the software.
Alot of the ones saying they can barly afford the webspace are more like private  developers, so go less noticed.

Sorry, we can't exactly tell you where to get cracks and full versions/serial codes of the software, as the files are covered by copyright laws making the distribution of such files illegal.

My dad owns a company that is, I think, affliated with Adobe, and, therefore, we get to use the photoshop software for free. zilch. nada. Still, I only use Photoshop 5 becasue nobody can be bothered to install 7 properly

But I don't know any just -looking for a word here- 'everyday' designers who've purchased the software. The pros do though.

Gezzle Bezzle I Bought all my software Smiley, photoshop seven, paintshop 8 and 9, Corel painter nine, Poser 5 *soon gonna have to get Poser 6*, Dreamwever Studio's. Yes they were lots of pennies, but I got them on E-bay and they tend to sell the official packaged softwear cheaper than anwhere else I have found.

Most of the mega talented link-wear designers tend I find to be between 15-19 so although most will find webhosting costs a bit steep having to pay from possibly pocket money and weekend jobs. Plus offering things for download sure as hell saps your bandwidth so they are hardly gonna get away with cheap hosting Smiley.
But most of these will possbly use softwear there parents have, or borrow it from friends. I suppose it's no big mystery Smiley.

And lets hope they continue, they already do so much for the web community.I haven' found one yet who only offers link-wear layouts, they also offer brushes, tuts, images, blends, avatars and help.
Keep up the goodwork....and I hope you find a cheaper version of photoshop Smiley

Sarah

edit. I do apologise if there are letters missing Smiley. It seems my remote keyboard is running out of juice.

Well, I had the trial of Photoshop CS and when it ran out I got the trial of PS7^^.  But my parents have promised to contribute towards CS for my next b-day...I'll still have to save a lot--I already have $220 dollars, though!

I'm a student in college and in about three weeks I'll be moving in a new flat in town with two roommates. I'm lucky enough to have parents who can pay for the rent and the other necessary stuff like bus, food, clothes and school books [I'm studying Literature].

They still give me a little pocket money and I also work, giving kids english lessons, to get some money. But even so, I won't have money left for buying softwares or domains. I like much better treating myself from time to time and buy a few CDs or go to the concert.

I don't think it is normal that webdesigning and sitemaking becomes a hobby for the rich, like theater [the price of the places ] or music [I'd love to play the saxophone so much, but a guitar is expensive enough !] has already become.

So what if it's illegal ? Don't you think Adobe gets enough money as it is ? They don't need my contribution and I can't give it to them anyway. I'm trying to save up to go to Scotland this summer [The Edimburgh International Festival *__*] and it's working so well that I don't even have a round 15 ? on my bank account !

But the fact is, these programs have made themselves impossible to avoid. Thanks to Melfina, I now work mostly with Notepad and I only use Dreamweaver when I've really got a problem, but I can't do anything on Paint, can I ???

I was bored one day with nothing to do and I didn't want to unpack(since I just moved),so I started looking around inside random boxes and found Photoshop 7 and photoshop 2 elements.I asked my dad and he told me that his friend(who works with computers) gave it to him for free.I was shocked though..since yes it IS 600$...and I found them lying around?..hahah ^_^;
