Need help with the Div Layout Tutorial

I'm trying to do the first part of the Div Layout tutorial and have some problems with it. The first problem is that I'm using a French version of photoshop Cs2 and some problem to understand the tutorial, especially about the layers.

At the end of the part "Starting the layout", I should have only two layers:
one with the picture and one as background. Is this still correct?

About the part of blending to the background, I have problem with point 4. I'm not able to do the commande "Reselect". At that moment, I should have again two layers: the one with the picture and the one with the blue background.

My main problem is the part about the Content box.
1. With the rectangular marquee tool  , make a selection where you want your content box. Press Shift and make the same for the navigation box. <- which layer must be selected? the one with the blue background or the one with the big picture?
2. Create a new layer for the boxes.  <- is it this one or Shift+Ctrl+N?

3. Take a color from the image with the Eyedropper tool (the one you want to use for the boxes) and go to Edit > Fill.

after point 2, I have only 3 layers (picture, background & new one) but I don't know which layer must be selected? I tried to follow the point 3 with the new layer as selection but nothing happens. I don't get the dark blue boxes

Can someone help me? Sorry to have put so much question and for my bad english.

to make the box just make a new layer, use the marquee tool, fill with any color, change the fill add stroke and ur done :P

I have tried as you said but it doesn't work. Instead of using the command Fill, I use the paint bucket tool. Is this also possible?

yea well you have to use that tool to "fill" it with a color xD
it easy
first open an image


Then using the marquee tool make this


Now use the bucker tool


Make a new layer and make this


Chenge the last layer settings



right click on the layer > blenging options


final result:
