Making a Tables Footer
« on: October 06, 2005, 08:15:42 PM »

Hello, I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I was wondering if anyone could show me how to make a footer. I have no clue...I'd like to make a footer for this layout.

Like what Melfina putsd at the bottom of her designs. At the bottom of this page for example it says 'Forum Skin copyright Melfina'. That's a footer.

If I've not mistaken,.....
Some websites have a page in the host for you to type in whatever footer you want. For example, most (or maybe all) forums, the beginner/'non-html' type for freewebs.

-This is the part I'm not sure about-
Others you have to type the footer at the bottom of the pages. For example the html type/version of freewebs which you are using.(I'm using the same type too Annoyed)

Well, hope that helped. Maybe there's another way instead of typing it in each page but I doubt it. If you're wondering where to insert the footer, it's at the bottom of the css, I should think.

mainly, you create one last cell before your table closes (</table>) like this:

Code:
<tr>
<td colspan="x">
Your image or content here
</td>
</tr>

Of course, you must replace x for the number of columns your table has. If it's sliced by photoshop, it may have a couple of td with an image/spacer.gif thing. Count the number of times spacer.gif appears and you'll have your number of columns. If not try a number, and if it doesn't look good, increase the number until it does look good.

I don't know if I explained this correctly..

Do the same rules apply for making a Div Layers footer? I tried using it and it aligns itself to thwe right when I tell it to align to the left. O.o;

no, what Melfina posted, applies only for tables layouts (it won't work for div's^^;; )

frankly, if you want to have a footer, it's best to go with tables, div footer's are, imo, complicated (i know, i've tried, it's a lot of work to attempt footers on div's xD)
