Helpful Tips/Tricks?

Hello everyone. I'm sorta new here, eheh. ^_^;;

However, I'm not new to Photoshop; been using it for over three years now. One problem: I'm still stuck with Photoshop 5.0, which is what I understand to be a somewhat "outdated" version.

Does ANYONE here know any cool tricks I could do, using 5.0? I've managed to do some that are on Celestial Designs (www.celestial-star.net) One really nice thing I COULDN'T do was the energy blast, which I seemed to screw up somewhow, no matter how many times I tried.


But anyways, any tips/tricks that I can utilize with 5.0 would be GREATLY appreciated, and thanks again! =^_^=

Before I used ps 7.0, I was using 5.0 . It was some time ago, but I think there wasn't much difference between them as for the basics, ps 7.0 introduced some new things for sure, and the brushes system changed.

Now, most tutorials are written for 7.0 and CS (they're pretty much the same). Most of the tutorials made for the latest versions, may also be useful for older versions, anyways, I did some search and I'm listing below what I found:
