First Web Layout

Hiya ^^

Well I just finished making a bit earlier my first ever Web Layout following the tut on the site for Div Layout. And I did it as a surprise for a friend, but I would like to know from you "Pros" how well I did for my first try *well completion* of a layout.

The colors go well together and the navigation symbols are very nice.  The banner is a bit plain, but the two pictures are vibrant with their red colors.  The only problem I'm seeing is the navigation links could overlap part of the banner (the white swirl on the right), if there are enough of them to reach down that far.

Overall, particularly for a first layout, it's quite well done.  Good job and I hope you're friend will like it!

I was not sure given my skill level how fancy I could go without ruining it, where it looked weird..

Hm I had not thought of that when I placed that swirl part, could changing link color or adding a highlighting color perhaps make it stand out a bit more should it reach the swirl?

That would definitely help separate the links from the banner.

nice one for a first try i must say:) i like the chalky swirls effect.
you could use a more contrasting color for your nav links, or u might want to try having a more contrasting hover color. = >
