Fading box for texts

As requested by a fiend from Ragnarok Online xD

First open your image and make a new layer:


Now with the rectangular marquee tool make a selection where you want your box:


Go to Edit > Fill and fill it with the color you want. With the eraser tool, erase one one sides. Take a big soft brush like the one below:


Erase like this:


Change the opacity of the layer until you're happy with what you've got:


Take the text tool and add the text. Add the blending options you want and all and the layers opacity.


Done! here's my result
