I fail to see how it was harsh, but regardless, my post was never intended to be harsh. I was only trying to teach the person that all design, regardless of how abstract, still requires basic functionality and planning. Without it then the design can be effectively rendered a failure on usability grounds alone.

It was suggested to me via IM to make it into an I-Frame layout, since the background won't repeat well. But having a mere 100 pixel high block for the text would be poor in my opinion also, and as-such, would fail the design in my eyes. But this is just my personal opinion.

I don't believe it was a harsh reply, instead it was a pretty good suggestion overall...

Many people don't want (or don't pretend) to design professionally and so they make their designs thinking only about aesthetics, still they should at least know that there are things like standards, accessibility, etc. and one can then choose if they want to follow them or not at that point.

Of course, that's just what I think.

I think the main reason it's so hard to code your layout is because the background doesn't repeat. If you went back and edited it to make the texture fade out into a solid or repeating background, it could be coded a lot easier.

Excuse me? I'll know to keep my advice gained from experience to those who are a little more grateful in the future then. I hope you have a great time trying to get by when all the advice you'll get is sugar-coated to what you want to hear, and not the actual facts.

It would depend on the person if the take it offending or not. I personally find it not a Harsh comment. It's a good suggestion.
