To start with I am just curious... I want to bring this into layouts but have no clue what I am basicly looking for.
So some help and hints would be so good!!

I have seen lately on lost's of layout places,background images that are fixed,and are not repeating nor are they going white when the content is bigger than the background image.
it seems the background is fixed and the text is just transparent over it.
But I know that won't work.
I do know that the background image (take texture for example) was faded in process of making it,but still... how is the code fixed without turning white.
Can someone help me out.... and is that only for iframe layouts or?
Thanks sooo much!!!

And lastly..I was looking at some navigation css,on layouts ,w3,etc..
but..I never get a grip! I am stupid when it comes to css.
So I was wondering if someone has an site that holds good and easy css for navigation,besides w3...or dynamic drive..or maybe one of you can help me right away.
I want to do the whole change background color,in the navi box.
or how an box will appear around the link,when the navigation isn't framed.
if someone needs me to show you a few examples if you don't know what I mean,please say so..
I know I am hard to understand when I don't know what the proper word is,which I am looking for.
if someone wants to help me right away,this is how my css allways looks like.
Cuz when i look at the layouts that hold the nice effect allways have the long drawnout css.
I say allways stick to what you know and works right?!
.

body {background-image: url(images/index2_22.gif);font-family: Verdana, Arial, Times New Roman; font-size: 11px; color:#836F5B;}

h1 {font-family: Verdana, Arial, Times New Roman; color: white; border: 1px solid; color white; background-color: #9B8871; padding: 0px; font-size: 14px; text-align:center;}

hr {color:#9B8871; border:1px solid white; background-color:#000000; height: 5px; }

A:link {text-decoration: none; color: 836F5B; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Times New Roman; font-size: 11px;}

A:hover {text-decoration: none; color: 731C39;}

A:visited {text-decoration: none; color: #E7ADC8; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Times New Roman; font-size: 11px;}

A:hover {text-decoration: none; color: 731C39;}

body {scrollbar-arrow-color: #731C39;
scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #000000;
scrollbar-track-color: #836F5B;
scrollbar-face-color: #836F5B;
scrollbar-shadow-color: Black;
scrollbar-highlight-color: #000000;
scrollbar-3dlight-color: #FFFFFF;
background-repeat: repeat-y;}

Thank you!!!

I'm fairly good with CSS, and I think  I can help you.

You say "how an box will appear around the link,when the navigation isn't framed.", do you mean if you have a link in the middle of your page, how do you get a box around it? If so, this is simple. You just need to add padding. Your css would look like this:

a.name, a.name:active, a.name:link, a.name:visited {
padding-top: 5px;
padding-bottom: 5px;
padding-left: 10px;
padding-right: 10px;
background-color: #whatever;
border: 2px solid whatever;
ect.
}

All you'd need to change is name in the a.name, a.name:active, ect, to whatever you want to name that set of links. You then change the padding to whatever size you're looking for around the text, and the background color, border, ect.

When you want a link to have the "box" around it, you'll want to use <a class="name" href="whatever">blahblah</a>.

Just change the "name" to whatever you call it in your css.

If you are talking about on a navigation collum, you don't need to add padding, you simply add display: block; into your css. Although I'm pretty sure you're talking about what I explained above Smiley.

If this don't help, or confuses you, feel free to email me at xrainbowgraphix@aim.com and ask away. I'll try to remember to keep checkign back here, but if I forget, I won't forget to check my email Smiley
